THE INITIALS:
LOCATION: Central.
Located in Jebal Amman at the charming little Bonita Inn, LAS TAPAS is conveniently located for a post-work drink on your way home, or a pre-party drink on your way out.DECOR: Think cozy cottage.
The interior of LAS TAPAS is little more than a room with a wooden bar and a few tables and chairs, but its basic style is reminiscent of the local bars of old European villages; the quaint little places that people go to specifically because they have not changed in years. The larger terrace offers up a breezy alternative to the cozy interior, and is perfectly suited for those who want to enjoy a sunny Ammani day.
THE ESSENTIALS:
DRINKS MENU & EXECUTION OF DRINKS: Basic.
LAS TAPAS offers the basic alcohols one would expect to find in a bar: simple long drinks and beers on tap, this is not a place for cocktail enthusiasts or adventurous drinkers. But if you are happy to keep it basic and have a highball drink of choice, LAS TAPAS will do the trick and quench your thirst.
FOOD MENU & EXECUTION OF FOOD: All in the name.
True to its Spanish name, LAS TAPAS offers a selection of snacks, appetizers, and finger-foods to accompany your choice of beverage. Like the venue, LAS TAPAS’ food is simple and unadorned (the majority of which comes fried) but still tasty nonetheless.
In proportion to the small size of the place, the service of LAS TAPAS is slow. There are enough employees to go around so the problem is clearly not the lack of hands. However as the venue is petite, personally going up to the bar for self-service is a practical solution.
ENTERTAINMENT: iPod shuffle.
For a Spanish bar, LAS TAPAS’ music does not stay true to form; in one sitting you may hear a range of music from classic rock to early ‘90s hits. But honestly, who’s complaining? The informality of the bar forgives discrepancies in genre.
THE ADDITIONALS:
PRICE: Competitive.
Food and long drinks are reasonably priced, while bottles cost substantially less than most other places in town. Need I say more?
THE OVERALL:
You wouldn’t come to LAS TAPAS looking for a gourmet meal or fabulous cocktails, but if you are interested in a comfortable little place for an easy-going evening of food and drink look no further. The beauty of LAS TAPAS is that it does not attempt to be anything other than it is, a simple bar for an uncomplicated people.

One of my favorite places in Amman. You have to try their Chili Chicken Fingers
